Should Teacher’s Unions be Banned?

While I wholeheartedly believe in the right of workers to establish unions, when a union is the beneficiary of a government-granted monopoly such as our current education system, and the students for the most part do not have free choice of going to an alternate venue, I believe that perhaps a sanity check is in order.

The NEA has repeatedly demonstrated that their interest is primarily (if not exclusively) their own self-promotion, and they are using our children to further their own financial goals, at the expense of the education of the children.   Don’t believe it?  Well for starters, read the USA Today article link below.  It details one instance of Teacher’s Unions and politicians choosing to promote their careers over what is best for students.
