Could Obama Use the Military Against US Citizens in the 2010 Elections?

There have been a spate of reports recently of various units of one type or another of the US military being prepared for potential use against US citizens should civil unrest arise for any reason… especially in the wake of possibly contentious election results in the fall of 2010.  See Examiner.com post.  The fear among some is that Obama would follow the example of some of his socialist buddies…Chavez for example, and just shut down political opposition.  This is more likely now than a few years ago due to the actions of, among others, Bush and Regan.  Bush as we all know, gets credit for the Patriot Act and various other enlargements of presidential power, and Regan, due to his obsession with the “War on Drugs” gets credit for “Erosion of the Posse Comitatus Act, the 1868 law that forbids federal troops from engaging in domestic law enforcement activities” ( quote from the web site stopthedrugwar.org ).

My initial reaction to these sorts of reports are to consider them a bit obsessive and prematurely paranoid.  But… a little paranoia can be a good thing…and lest any of us think that such a scenario could never happen in the USA, let me point out that it DID HAPPPEN in New Orleans after Katrina.  The National Guard was used to take private citizens arms away from them.  Watch the ABC World News Video.

The Us Military was also used in the Waco TX boondoggle in 1993.

Concerning the standoff in Waco TX with the Branch Davidians (David Koresh), for anyone who has the time, it is worth the effort to watch the entire documentary “Waco:  The Rules of Engagement”.  It is a wake up call on how our government can turn both the police power and military might against it’s own citizens.  You can watch it  HERE.

So, while I think it is a little premature to start preparing for martial law… we should be vigilant about our freedoms, and head off any threat to it…including threats from our own politicians and our own military.  Which is why we should all support OathKeepers.
