During the energy crisis of the 1970s, Margaret Thatcher set out to break the miner’s political power and secure energy security for Britain by promoting nuclear power. She went to the Royal Society and offered them $$$ to “prove” that carbon emissions were bad, in order to support her nuclear efforts. Here is the story of how this bit of ill-considered subterfuge was hi-jacked, and took on a life of it’s own. A devil’s brew of assorted special interest groups picked up the “global warming” banner and distorted it to their own purposes.
Among those interviewed in this video; Patrick Moore, co-founder of Greenpeace. Patrick tells how by the mid 1980s, the majority of people were in agreement with all of the “reasonable” things that Greenpeace promoted. So to continue to justify their existence, Greenpeace had to adopt increasingly radical and unreasonable positions, including the position that CO2 emissions would lead to catastrophic man-made global warming.
