Pay Attention. We are headed back into the dark ages if the trend continues.
I believe in open debate of any topic…including religion. If there is true open debate, and it takes place on “level ground” without one side or the other benefiting from favoritism from the media or government, I believe that the best position will ultimately win out. But, when one side or the other starts being treated preferentially by the authorities or the media, watch out, because totalitarianism of one form or another is not far behind.
Any religious group should be able to meet. And any religious group should be able to POLITELY offer their information to people who walk down the street.
The police can use any excuse that they want, perhaps that they are afraid of a confrontation occurring, but when we start stifling free speech because we are afraid one segment of our population may get upset by what they hear, we are on a slippery, slippery slope.
